Submission on the Films and Publications Amendment Bill

We have submitted comments to the proposed Films and Publications Amendment Bill.

While the bill is generally a huge step forward and improves the regulatory regime around the classification of games significantly, it still advocates an administrative prior classification system for all films and games.

The bulk of our submission is trying to address this issue where we call for this system of classification to be abolished , and instead replaced with a system where only “listed grounds” i.e. Hate Speech, Propoganda for War and what now constitutes as “adult” content (i.e. R18, X18, XX and unclassifiable) be required to adhere to an administrative prepublication classification system.

There where some other minor corrections that we suggested should our primary submission fail.
